Past Luna Sound

LUNA SOUND launched in 2019 as the Friday night launchpad for LUNA Fest. This ticketed festival took over the century-old historic Regent Hotel transforming it into a multi-stage, art-infused LUNA venue. In true LUNA fashion LUNA SOUND featured bands that push the boundaries of their respective genres culminating in an unforgettable night of music.

Artists & Performers

Blue Moon Marquee is a Gypsy Blues band born of the wild rose country. They currently make their home in an island shack on the coast of the Salish Sea. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Badlands Jass (vocals/bass/drums) write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves. Artists such as Lonnie Johnson, Louis Armstrong, Blind Willie Jonson, Charley Patton, Howlin’ Wolf, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Tom Waits, Memphis Minnie, and Django Reinhardt are deeply infused in the soul of their music.

Bold. Upbeat. Immense and Soulful is the cutting edge sound which is Old Soul Rebel. A powerhouse duo, coloured by brass and driven by drums, puts a brand new shine on soul and rock n roll.

Inspired by their First Nations and African American upbringings, core members Chelsea D.E Johnson and Lola Whyte write music that rebels against what is old and outdated.

“Just when you have Art d’Ecco pegged as a glam rocker with an appreciation for a Phil Spector–esque Wall of Sound, the guy throws you a curve ball that makes you think you really don’t get him at all. Consider “Nobody’s Home”, which improbably sounds like Marc Bolan and Joy Division commandeering the dance floor at Studio 54. Or “Dark Days”, a throbbing salvo of synth-punk that will have you digging out your old Tubeway Army LPs. You might never figure d’Ecco out, but you’re guaranteed to have fun trying.”
